Introduction

My name is Chris Hannon.  I will be maintaining the NWA GLBT CC's HIV/AIDS web pages and will try to keep the most up to date information I can find in regards to living with HIV/AIDS and it's prevention, treatment and effects.  I am not an expert on HIV/AIDS and can only offer information I have discovered and my life experiences.  Hopefully some of you will find the next few pages helpful.

I am a 24 year survivor of HIV and over the years I have learned many things that have helped me cope with the virus and still live a full, productive, somewhat healthy life.  It hasn't been easy, but it doesn't have to take over or ruin your life.  I have worked a full time job for 18 years, kept long, loving relationships, and in general have lived most of my life like any other normal human being.  Having HIV/AIDS is no longer the death sentence it used to be.  Those in the HIV/AIDS community often call this Positive Living.

With the right attitude, treatment, nutrition and loving, caring, partners, family members, co-workers and friends, you too will find that it is possible to live a long, happy life even if you do happen to have HIV/AIDS.   Through these pages you will learn more about me and what I have done to cope, nothing drastic or life changing, just day to day things you can do to keep your spirits up and your heart open to those that are willing and want to help you.

So click on the link above and come back often for updated news and events geared towards those of us living with HIV/AIDS.  And if you find something you think would be helpful, please contact me so I can add it to these pages for others to see. In time the NWA GLBT Community Center's HIV/AIDS services will be expanding, and I plan to be a major advocate for bettering the lives of those in NW Arkansas and the surrounding communities who are living with HIV/AIDS.  There are so few places to turn to in the area and I, with your help and support, would like to effect changes to better our community and educate others about HIV/AIDS.

Please contact me at: chris@nwaglbtcc.org with your thoughts and suggestions.
